How soon can I start using MyRepublic fibre broadband after I sign up?

The short answer: anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the available pool of dates provided to us by OpenNet and your time preferences for our Service Installation visit.
If your house is fibre ready (i.e. Home Reached), we will take a few working days to process your order and verify all your submitted documents. After this, our Order Team will call you up personally to schedule your service installation appointment.
For service installation, one of our Field Technicians will come down to your residence to install the ONT (optical modem), and if included with the package you signed up with, your Wi-Fi router as well.
After this installation visit, your MyRepublic connection should be up and ready for use.

What does OpenNet have to do with all this?

The dates available for service installation are dependent on OpenNet as OpenNet needs time to provision our broadband service to your address specifically. Like other fibre broadband providers in Singapore, we draw on a pool of dates that OpenNet, the authority behind Singapore’s fibre broadband infrastructure, releases to us and updates on a daily basis.
In other words, when exactly you sign up can impact when we are able to carry out the service installation. During periods where there are a high number of fibre broadband sign-ups across Singapore (e.g. IT fairs) and when OpenNet is more busy, the chances of getting an earlier installation date are smaller.

If your address is Home Passed, instead of Home Reached, it means that your area or building is fibre ready but not your unit address. In other words, OpenNet has installed the fibre broadband infrastructure cabling in your neighborhood but they have yet to install the Termination Point (TP) in your house.
Home Passed households are still welcome to sign up for fibre broadband with us, but you may need to pay additional costs for OpenNet to come and install the TP if you missed the OpenNet letter offering to install your TP for free.
For Home Passed customers, a total of 2 installation appointments is required:
  1. The TP installation appointment by OpenNet to install the TP
  2. The Service Installation Appointment by MyRepublic to install your ONT and get the service running
If MyRepublic coordinates the whole installation process, there should be no significant difference in installation waiting time for Home Passed or Home Reached customers. Home Passed customers simply require a TP installation appointment that usually takes place 2 to 3 days before the Service Installation appointment.
If your address is categorized as Not Covered, OpenNet has yet to install the necessary infrastructure to bring fibre broadband in your area, such as the laying of optical fibre cables underground.
